The mission of the onsite director of Outreach Uganda, Joan Sanyu, extends beyond the walls of the Children’s Center. She currently partners with twenty pastors in Zirobwe (Janda), working hand in hand with them to spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ and to bring transformation to the community. Through their joint effort, they conduct evangelistic outreaches ministering to families, widows, and to children in desperate need of both spiritual and physical nourishment as well as the basic necessities of life. Understanding the importance of strong leadership in the church, Joan also trains pastors in the region, equipping them to preach effectively and to lead their congregations in faith. In order to further strengthen the spiritual foundation of the community, Joan has helped establish Bible study programs which deepen people’s understanding of the Word of God and which encourage a life rooted in Christian values. Through these efforts, Joan has played a key role in bringing the love of Christ and the message of salvation to the people of Janda and to surrounding areas.

From being an orphaned child living in a children's foundation, to becoming a leader of hope and change in Uganda, Joan's journey is a testimony to the power of compassion, of faith, and the power of an unyielding belief that no child should be left behind. As the Children's Center continues to grow, so does Joan’s vision to see a world where every orphaned child finds love, every widow finds support, every community has access to healthcare, and lives are transformed through the love of God and the gospel of Jesus Christ.

In addition to caring for orphans and spreading the Gospel, the Children's Center has also established a community clinic in order to serve the people of Zirobwe. This clinic provides much-needed health advice, treatment, and medical support to children, widows, and struggling families who otherwise would have little or no access to healthcare. From conducting medical and dental camps to
treating common illnesses and offering maternal care and health education, the clinic is becoming a vital part of the community, ensuring that those in need have access to proper medical attention.
